A Guide to SnapJack 2500 & 5000 CompatibilityUpdated a year ago

Unlike other SnapPad products, SnapJacks are not just permanent jack pads. They are a complete scissor jack adapter kit that includes a SnapPad preinstalled on a custom metal foot, designed to replace the standard bowtie foot that appears on most scissor jack setups.

The adapter kit also includes all the required hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.) to complete installation.

For years travel trailer owners with scissor jack stabilizers have asked us for a SnapPad solution for their rigs. During the R&D phase of this product, we discovered that the nature and variance of the different bowtie feet made it impossible to design a permanent jack pad that would snap on and stay on like our other product lines.

As a result, the SnapJack adapter kit with our custom metal jack and preinstalled SnapPad is the optimal solution.

Because there are different scissor jack assemblies with different weight ratings and hardware specifications, we currently have two versions of SnapJack adapter kits: Snapjack 2500 and SnapJack 5000.

SnapJack 2500:

Designed to work with most 2500 lbs rated scissor jacks, SnapJack 2500 comes with a round 5.5-inch laser-cut metal foot and our Mini 5 SnapPad.

SnapJack 5000:

Designed to work with most 5000-7500 lbs rated scissor jacks, SnapJack 5000 comes with a square 5.5 laser-cut metal foot and our Mini Square 5 SnapPad.

Checking for Compatibility:

Here are some ways to find out if your RV needs a SnapJack 2500 or 5000:

  1. Wrench Check:

Almost all 5000 lb scissor jacks use an M10x1.5 bolt with a 9/16”, ⅝,” or 17mm head.
Almost all 2500 lb scissor jacks use an M8x1.25 bolt with a ½” or 12mm head.

    To Check Your Bolt:

If a ½” wrench (or socket) fits over the head of the bolt, you likely have a 2500 lb jack. If it is too small to fit over the bolt head, you likely have a 5000 lb jack.

  2. Weight Rating:

Most scissor jacks have an identifying sticker on the side of the assembly, which will show the weight rating. Your weight rating helps identify which SnapJacks you might need.

    To Find Your Weight Rating:

Please look for the sticker on your scissor jack assembly showing the weight rating, or refer to your owner's manual for more information. Almost all scissor jacks are weight rated for 2500 lbs, 5000 lbs, or 7500 lbs.

  3. Foot Size:

Scissor jack feet size can also help identify which SnapJacks your assembly will need.
Almost all 5000 lb scissor jacks will have a “bowtie” foot measuring ~9” long (~22.5cm), while almost all 2500 lb scissor jacks will have a “bowtie” foot measuring ~8” long (~20.5cm).

    To Find Your Foot Size:

Grab a tape measure and look to see if your feet are 8" or 9" in length. If you have an 8” bowtie foot, you likely require SnapJack 2500. If you have a 9” bowtie foot, you likely require SnapJack 5000.

Your scissor jacks are likely to be compatible with SnapJack 2500 if:

  • A 1/2" wrench fits on the scissor jack bolt head
  • The weight rating for the scissor jack is 2500 lbs
  • Your bowtie scissor jack foot is 8" long

Your scissor jacks are likely to be compatible with SnapJack 5000 if:

  • A 1/2" wrench doesn't fit the scissor jack bolt head
  • The weight rating for the scissor jacks is 5000 lb or 7500 lb
  • Your bowtie scissor jack foot is 9" long
